From Iowa to Guatemala
Heartland Power Lineman Heads to Guatemala for International Electrification Project
In September, HPC lineman Jackson Rice will join a team of 18 linemen from electric cooperatives in Colorado, Iowa and Oklahoma on a mission to Guatemala through Energy Trails. Together, the crew will bring electricity for the first time to nearly 100 homes, a school, and a new medical center in the rural Guatemalan villages of Montenegro and El Estocal. Once power is in place, the team will also complete a community service project to upgrade the school’s kitchen and supply the new health center. We are incredibly proud to have Jackson represent Heartland Power Cooperative and our communities on this meaningful mission.
Help Cheer Jackson On!
Our youngest members can be part of the adventure by decorating a special “Flat Jackson” coloring page. Simply color Jackson, cut him out, and return it to Heartland Power by September 10. Jackson will take the artwork with him to Guatemala as a reminder of the encouragement and support from home.
