3:45 PM - Due to ice and strong winds, Heartland Power Cooperative has experienced widespread power outages throughout much of the day Thursday. Broken poles and downed power lines have affected electric service across Kossuth, Winnebago, Worth and Mitchell Counties.

Area transmission lines which feed our Worth and Logan substations are also under extensive repair. We anticipate those repairs will not be complete until sometime Friday, restoring power to a significant number of cooperative members. The completion of those repairs will also provide crews more options in back feeding routes.

Crews will continue to set poles and rebuild line through the overnight hours as able. Linemen and equipment from several other cooperatives arrived Thursday morning to provide additional support and expedite the restoration process. They too will assist tonight and early tomorrow as needed.

We remind everyone to stay away from downed power lines. They are not safe to approach or drive over. Please report any noticeable line damages to local authorities and the cooperative at 888-417-3007.
